Born in Saint Louis, Missouri, Del Ihle graduated from Saint Marys College in Moraga California (BA) and undertook graduate studies at California State University (MBA program) and Solano College (Commercial Photography).

Having spent nearly two decades in corporate business management, Del shifted careers in 1997 to pursue the creative aspects of freelance photography. His corporate clients have included firms such as Tandy Corporation and Blockbuster Entertainment. He has photographed a number of celebrities including President Bill Clinton along with Hilary Clinton and Chelsea, singer Dionne Warwick and sports notables such as Joe Montana, Jim Pluckett, and Burt Sugar.

His fashion photography has included the principal catalog displays for Anett Schneider Designs (Los Angles), Polaris (Carmel, CA) and a feature presentation of Miss America 2004 for Nzetta Magazine. Del is a past member of ASMP (American Society of Media Photographers) and is a current member of Wedding & Portrait Photographers International (WPPI).

He and his wife Meri reside in Orange Park, Florida.
